Salon reviews name people, and that makes them hard
Almost nobody reviews a salon. They review Megan. A five-star rave names the stylist, and so does the one-star about a colour that came out brassier than the picture. That is what makes salon reputation different from every other local business: the reply is about a person on your team who will read it, and so will every client sitting in her chair next week.
Say too little and the review stands unchallenged. Say too much and you have publicly criticised your own stylist — which is how salons lose the stylist and her client list in the same month.
Meanwhile the search that actually fills your chairs, “hair salon near me,” shows three pins and a star rating. Nothing else. We handle the replies, keep the listing accurate, and give you a way to collect reviews at the moment clients are happiest.
What our salon reputation management covers
Daily work on the profile new clients actually see — not a dashboard that pings your phone during a colour service and leaves the writing to you.
Every review answered within the hour
Colour corrections, wait times, a cut that wasn’t the photo, a five-star rave naming your stylist — answered in your salon’s voice, and never at a team member’s expense.
Services & booking link kept current
Balayage, extensions, keratin, nails, lashes, walk-in availability, your booking URL, holiday hours — the attributes clients filter on, updated as your menu changes.
Weekly Google Posts
New stylists, transformation photos, last-minute openings, seasonal offers — published on a schedule. This is the activity signal Google reads as a salon that is open and busy.
Competitor tracking
The three salons genuinely competing with you for the same search — their rating, their review velocity, and a plain-English read on why you sit above or below them this week.
Listing & pin protection
Suite numbers, phone consistency across directories, Maps pin accuracy, suggested-edit monitoring — so a client heading to a suite salon isn’t dropped at the wrong building.
A free dashboard, forever
Every reply, post and competitor move logged, so you can see exactly what was published on your salon’s behalf. It stays free even if you cancel.
A Google review tool for salons that works at the desk
Managing reviews only helps if reviews arrive. The reliable moment is the thirty seconds while a client is paying and still looking at her hair — not an email on Thursday she never opens.
Our review plates and cards sit on the reception counter or the styling station. The client taps her phone or scans the QR and lands directly on your Google review page. No app, no account, no typing a salon name into search. It takes about three seconds, and your front desk never has to explain how it works.
Every plate and card is programmed to your own Google Business Profile. There is no subscription on the hardware — you buy it once and it keeps working.
Most salons pair a plate at the desk with a card at each station, then let the Agent handle everything that comes back.
The front-desk centrepiece. Weighted, gold-finished, tap or scan. The one clients notice while they are paying.
Pocket-sized gold card for the styling station or to hand over with the receipt. Same tap-to-review, smaller footprint.
The workhorse. Brushed steel, survives a wet salon environment, ideal if you want one at every chair.
Three gold cards for the price of two. For a salon floor with multiple stations or a second location.
The cheapest way to cover a whole floor. One per station, so nobody has to walk a client to the desk.
Helps the client draft the review itself — for the ones who tap, stare at an empty box, and give up.
Priced per salon, not per stylist
A twelve-chair salon pays the same as a two-chair studio. Most start with the Agent and add a one-time service only if the rating needs repair first.

For a rating damaged by a bad hire, a stylist who left badly, or a review-bombing. Replies, policy disputes and a review push.
Real people call the clients you nominate and walk them to your review page. 50, 150 or 300 calls, with a full report.
New salon, a move to a suite, a rebrand, or duplicate listings left behind by a previous owner. Claimed, corrected, verified.
Where your salon website stands — authority, backlinks, keyword visibility and your highest-impact quick wins.
Rebooking reminders and campaigns for the client list you already have — the other half of salon marketing.
Against what salons normally do instead
Your booking software probably has a review feature. Here is the honest comparison.
| Front desk doing it | Booking software review add-on | The Star Company | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly cost | $0 + staff hours | $30–$150 on top of your plan | $49–$99 per salon |
| Reply time | Days, or never on a Saturday | It notifies — you still reply | Under 1 hour |
| Who writes the reply | Whoever isn’t with a client | You do | We do |
| Stylist-named reviews | Handled emotionally | No guidance | Handled without blaming staff |
| How reviews are requested | Verbally, when remembered | Automated email or SMS | Tap at the desk, plus calls |
| Listing & services accuracy | When someone remembers | Not covered | Continuous |
| Competitor tracking | No | No | Weekly, included |
| Vagaro / Fresha / Phorest sync | — | Yes | No |
That last row is the real trade. If you want review requests firing automatically off a completed appointment in Vagaro or Fresha, your booking software does that and we don’t. What it will not do is write the reply, keep your listing accurate, or tell you why the salon two streets over is outranking you — which is the work that actually moves you up the map pack.

Salon reputation management FAQs
How much does salon reputation management cost?
Ours starts at $49 per month per salon for the AI Local SEO Agent, or $99/month for Pro. Annual billing saves 50%. One-time services are priced separately: $449 for reputation repair, from $199 for review collection calls, and $149 for listings and Maps setup. Review plates and cards are a one-off purchase from $30 with no subscription attached.
What is the best Google review tool for salons?
Whichever one your front desk will actually use during a busy Saturday. Automated email and SMS requests from booking software get opened days later, when the client is no longer looking at her hair. A tap-to-review plate at the desk catches her at checkout, in about three seconds, with no app and no typing. We make them in 22K gold and stainless steel, each programmed to your own Google Business Profile.
How do I respond to a bad review that names one of my stylists?
Never defend the salon by contradicting the client, and never criticise the stylist in public — both cost you more than the review does. Acknowledge the disappointment, state that you offer a correction or a redo, and give a direct number so it moves off the profile. Then handle the stylist conversation privately. Our replies are written to that rule by default, and you set how firm or warm the tone should be.
What about reviews naming a stylist who has left?
They cannot be removed, and they keep pulling in clients who ask for someone who no longer works there. The reply is the fix: acknowledge warmly, note that the team is still doing that service, and point to booking. We flag these as they come in so you can decide whether to mention the departure at all — usually you should not.
Can you remove bad reviews from my salon’s Google profile?
Only reviews that break Google’s policies — fake, spam, abusive, off-topic, or left by someone who was never a client — can be removed, and we file those disputes as part of Reputation repair. A genuine bad review cannot be deleted by anyone. What works is replying well and outweighing it with fresh positive ones.
Do you integrate with Vagaro, Fresha, Phorest or Square?
No. We do not connect to your booking software, which also means we never touch your client list. Reviews are collected at the desk with a plate or card, or through review collection calls using a list you provide. If automated post-appointment requests matter more to you than done-for-you replies, your booking platform is the better fit and we would say so.
Is this salon marketing, or just reviews?
It is the review and local search half of salon marketing — the part that decides whether someone searching “hair salon near me” or “nail salon near me” sees you at all. It does not cover social content or paid ads. If you want the rebooking side too, Email & SMS marketing works on the client list you already have, and the $2 Deep SEO Report shows where your website sits before you spend anything.
How long before I see results?
Local ranking movement typically starts in 2–4 weeks, with meaningful gains by 60–90 days. Reply times and listing completeness improve immediately. Rating recovery takes longer, because it depends on new reviews outweighing old ones — which is why salons in a hole usually pair the Agent with a plate at the desk from day one.
Is there a contract?
No. Every subscription is month-to-month, or annual if you want the 50% discount. Cancel anytime — the Agent stops working on your profile and your dashboard stays free. There is also a 30-day money-back guarantee on the Agent plans.
